FAN Okemos board member P. Pavona manned a booth at the 8 county Sparrow Care Network Community Resource Luncheon East Lansing Mi. - October 29th

FAN SW Oakland/Livingston met with South Lyon Community Schools and the School Board Candidate. – October 28th

FAN Southwest Michigan received a 6000.00 donation from the Van Buren Women Who Care organization to be used in Van Buren County. – October 

FAN Ionia/MontcalmIM had a table at the Greenville Community Fair at the Greenville High School.-October 27th

FAN Southwest Michigan partnering with the Voice Change Hope Alliance provided Overdose Prevention education and Naloxone Distribution at the Niles District Library, Berrien County. FAN Southwest Michigan has trained 1634 individuals on overdose prevention and distributed 1063 free naloxone kits in 2016.  There have been 14 reported reversals of heroin overdose in the community and 36 uses of naloxone by law enforcement since Feb. 2016. - October 27th

FAN Okemos Board Member Judge D. Allen was a panel presenter at the Mi. Health Policy Forum "Michigan's response to the opioid epidemic" and board/advisory board members J. Kapenga, P. Pavona, A. Lick attended the Forum East Lansing Mi. -  October 24th

FAN LAPEER Gary Austin attended the Michigan Health Policy Forum in Lansing.  Gary is a pharmacist and has become actively involved in our Lapeer Chapter. - October 24th

FAN Macomb, Judge Davis presented at the Ionia Recovery Fair. -October 22nd

FAN LAPEER Tina Dinnan, Brenda Ruddock, Gary Austin and two national honor students participated in the Halloween treat walk in downtown Lapeer.  The informational coloring books about drug use provided by the Lapeer County Sheriff's department were distributed along with candy treats.- October 22nd

FAN Ionia/MontcalmIM held the Ionia Recovery Fair. This was a Kick-off for our future meetings in Ionia County. Judge Davis was our guest speaker and Charles Powers shared his story of losing his son to an overdose.-October 22nd

FAN LAPEER Pegg Patten and Tim Brady were present at the State Police Post for the Drug Take Back Day.  We again had our Deterra bucket available and collected liquids and patches. -October 22nd

FAN LAPEER welcomed Cecil Christo, from Lapeer Alcohol Information and Counseling Center, to speak about "how to talk to your children when you suspect they may be using/experimenting with drugs." - October 11th

ACHC/Oakland County FAN Collaborated with the Troy Drug Court Judges, Clawson Public Schools and Sheriff's office to the entire high school. -October 3rd

FAN Fraser attended the Physician Alliance Community Resource Fair at the St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit, providing several physicans and nurses with information on prescription medications, addiction, disposal sites and other resources.- September 28th 

ACHC/Oakland County FAN in collaboration with Clawson Community Coalition had tables at the Public Forum on the Heroin epidemic in Clawson. – September 28th

FAN Southwest Michigan, presented to the Victory Clinic family about FAN and the importance of family involvement in recovery, Kalamazoo County -FAN Southwest Michigan has trained 1284 individuals on overdose prevention and distributed 842 free naloxone kits in 2016.  There have been 13 reported reversals of heroin overdose in the community and 32 uses of naloxone by law enforcement since Feb. 2016.- Sept. 28th

FAN Lapeer Our Run Drugs out of Town event was held at Rowden Park.  There were over 200 walkers/runs that came out for the event.  Our Prosecuting Attorney Candidate Mike Sharkey, Sheriff Candidate Scott McKenna and write in Circuit Judge Candidate David Richardson came out to help with the event. - August 21th

FAN Ionia Montcalm along with several executive and advisory board members took place to plan our Ionia kickoff meeting in October. We have decided our outreach will be much greater with forum meetings in both Ionia and Montcalm counties. -July 25th

FAN Ionia Montcalm had guest speakers at their mothly forum. The speakers were Kate Long, PA-C - Kate spoke.  She on the Medical View of pain and prescriptions. Sue Ellen Pabst - Explained how Acupuncture throughout the ears works and planted some ear seeds afterwards on anyone interested. John Kroneck - taught about Intensional Relaxation using breathing and muscle techniques, the class participated in an exercise using these techniques. -July 21st

ACHC FAN Walled Lake/Commerce  and Walled Lake/Commerce Community Coalition hosted a community night with Michael DeLeon of Steered Straight, New Jersey. -July 20th

SWMI, Berrien County, presented to Riverwood's Intensive Outpatient Group, FAN information and overdose prevention training with naloxone distribution-July 18th

FAN Fraser- Macomb held their annual RUN DRUGS OUT OF TOWN EVENT at Fraser HIgh School.  The event was a huge sucess with over 200 volunteers, 150 sponsors, 70 plus teams and 1700 plus registered attendees! - July 16th

FAN SWMI, Van Buren County, attended the annual Peace Fest Music Festival at Willow Ranch.  Tabling the even with FAN information and doing overdose prevention education with naloxone distribution.  This event is attended by over 500 people annually. - July 14th

ACHC/Oakland County FAN in collaboration with the Clawson Community Coalition and the Oakland County Health Dept conducted an educational presentation at the Clawson Manor (Senior High Rise) on the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs within our Senior population, also conducted a survey on who, what, where and why to properly dispose of their unused prescription medications.  – July 12th

FAN SWMI, Van Buren County, had a concert fundraising event at Warner Vineyards.  This event was a community sponsored event with professional musicians donating their time, including professional recording artist M. Maggie who returned to her home town to perform.  Local business donated food.   Approximately 1000 was raised in donations. - July 1st

FAN SWMI has trained 147 individual on overdose prevention response and distributed 88 naloxone kits in the month of June.    Since Dec 2015 through June 2016 FAN SWMI has trained 891 individuals in overdose prevention and response and distributed 586 kits in Southwest Michigan with 5 reported reversals.  FAN SWMI has been working with the Red Project and Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health to provide Law Enforcement departments with overdose response education and Naloxone use.  Currently 42 Departments and several Michigan State Police posts carry naloxone. This has resulted in 23 overdose reversals with naloxone since February 2016.-June

Sherri Sherban, and Secretary Tracy Barnes met with the Battle Creek Bronson Hospital E.D. and staff regarding protocol on overdoses and discharge, talked about providing triage packets with information on treatment and meetings available in county for those released with no follow up. - June 29th

FAN Fraser hosted a Hope Not Handcuff's luncheon meeting at the 41 B District Court. Several local community leaders attended the meeting to learn more about the new porject for Macomb County.- June 23rd

FAN Fraser held a fundraiser at the Bagger Dave's in  Chesterfield.  We had a huge support from the community in attendance to raise awareness about addiction while giving back to the FAN organization while dining with family and friends.- June 22nd

FAN Saginaw County had Case Managers from their Adult Felony Drug Court present at their FAN forumn. Both of the case managers were former police officers, one was formley with the Michigan State Police and the other was a Saginaw City officer.  Some of the discussion was about the Medicated Assistance Treatment (MAT) that is being utilized in the Drug Court (Vivitrol). FAN SWMI has been working with the Red Project in Grand Rapids to provide training to Law Enforcement agencies in the eight counties covered by our chapter. -January 2016

FAN SWMI has currently assisted with twelve law enforcement agencies to carry Naloxone in case of an overdose. -January 2016

FAN Lapeer had a meeting scheduled with  John Biscoe, the County Administrator about our desire to make Naloxone available to the Sheriff's Department.They also met with Mike Slater, the Supervisor of the Adult Probation Department, as well as Len Watkins, the Community Corrections Director, to share information about how FAN can assist families and some of the sentencing alternatives she plans to discuss with Judge Holowka at a future meeting.  FAN also met with Magistrate Delling to encourage him to consider making a referral to FAN when setting bond requirements.-November 20th

2nd Opiate Epidemic Conference was hosted by the Michigan Opiate Prevention Alliance which includes; Families Against Narcotics (Macomb & Lapeer chapters), Chasing the Dragon (Genesee County), Project Opiate (Livingston County) & Livonia Save Our Youth. The conference was attended by law enforcement, court employees and members of the mental health / substance abuse community - January 4th
