Community Groups

"Recently my 13 year old daughter and I attended a FAN drug awareness night. After leaving the program we had our first meaningful conversation about drugs. She disclosed that her best friend was abusing prescription drugs. Thankfully, we were able to get her help."

Mother of a 13-year-old

"The harsh reality is that nationwide use of illegal and prescription drugs among young people has risen dramatically over the last 10 years. We hold ourselves to a high standard in what we provide families and I don't think we would be the successful school we are if we were not proactive about addressing this serious issue.

FAN's program is an invaluable resource for making parents, teachers, and students aware of the problem facing all communities today."

Patrick Adams. Principal De La Salle Collegiate High School, Warren, MI

Community Drug Awareness Night programs are designed for large audiences including schools, churches, business and health organizations. This 1 1/2 hour presentation is packed with information on prescription pain medication abuse and its potential to lead to Illegal narcotic use. We will also provide suggestions for keeping family members safe.

A Thank You Letter to FAN

Dear FAN:

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to William, Kelly and Frank for traveling to the Upper Peninsula this past week and sharing their personal stories and FAN's message to students and families across Chippewa County.  They had an intense itinerary and three long days up here!  They visited 9 schools, spoke at two community gatherings and met with community leaders and Rotary club members; they reached nearly 1,700 people in person and traveled more than 200 miles throughout the county.  They also were interviewed by a local television station and at least two newspaper articles have been printed thus far.

Their message of hope for communities was so inspiring that there is movement and motivation to start a FAN chapter in this region.  Youth and adults in recovery, family members, community leaders and professionals have stepped forward to offer assistance in bringing your wonderful program to life in this community.  Please, if you are able to provide me with any suggestions or parameters in beginning a chapter here I would greatly appreciate it.

We are looking forward to building a healthy, strong community for people in recovery and their families.

Thank you -
Karen
