An integral part of FAN's mission is to remove the stigma associated with addiction through education and to inform the community of the growing problem of prescription drug use among all ages, including senior citizens. Over the past few years, we have presented our Real People Sharing Real Stories to thousands of students in over two dozen school districts, spoke at over 50 conferences and traveled to more than 30 communities from Grosse Ile to Petoskey to share our stories. Our unique presentation style includes parents affected by addiction, parents who have lost loved ones and young people in recovery.

Here are a few of our formats:

Community Drug Awareness Night

Community Drug Awareness Night programs are designed for large audiences including schools, churches and business and health organizations. This two-hour program is packed with information on prescription pain medication abuse and its potential to lead to Illegal narcotic use.  We also provide suggestions for keeping family members safe. A one-of-a-kind drug display showcasing the latest drug trends and paraphernalia is also available upon request.

School Presentations

Our school presentations can be tailored to large groups or individual classes. Speakers include parents affected by addiction and 2-3 young people in recovery.  With 1 in 5 high school students reporting prescription pain medication abuse, and heroin use on the rise, this program is the perfect opportunity to inform them of the real dangers lurking inside medicine bottles.

Speakers Bureau

We have speakers available for community events, business and health organizations, conferences, TV, cable and radio shows. Speakers will address the epidemic of prescription drug abuse in our society and its potential to lead to illegal narcotic use, and will provide easy-to-implement solutions that can protect our communities.
